Pareto Principle or the 80/20 Rule
Although I am not
a “numbers and statistical expert” … Math and numbers are the fabric of everything, they are embedded into
the God’s natural order and in the order of men, from computer code to risk management

1906, Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto
created a mathematical formula to describe the unequal distribution of wealth
in his country. Pareto observed that 20% of the people owned 80% of the
nation's wealth ….
In the late 1940s,
Dr. Joseph M. Juran—a product quality guru of that era—attributed the 80/20
Rule to Pareto and called it the Pareto Principle or Pareto Law. The Principle
may not have become a household term, but the 80/20 rule is certainly cited to
this day to describe economic inequity.
It also is a
useful tool to help you prioritize and manage the work in your life.
Juran took
Pareto's principle further, applying the 80/20 rule to quality studies. For
example, he theorized that 20% of the defects cause 80% of the problems in most
products.
Other examples include:
- 80%
of a company's revenues are generated by 20% of its customers
- 80%
of complaints come from 20% of customers
- 80%
of quality issues impact 20% of a company's products
As the opposite rule:
- 20%
of investors provide 80% of funding
- 20%
of employees use 80% of all sick days
- 20%
of a blog's posts generate 80% of its traffic
There are a nearly unlimited number of examples that we tend to apply the
80/20 rule to in our personal and working lives.
What I find interesting
with the 80 / 20 rule is how it is being applied to the coronavirus global
outbreak … yet the number of deaths are not adding up to such, the actual deaths from coronavirus is staying a constant 2% to 5%, statistically far less then the "seasonal viruses" we go every year and the deaths are usually from a secondary infection … yet the panic is far
more with the coronavirus … which makes me wonder what is really going on here … and also now in the
US and other countries “isolation centers” are being opened to house people who might have the virus
and Russia has closed its entire border with China … such things are “biblical”
in their significance… to take such drastic actions with a virus that has not
shown Statistically it is a massive killer of people, like Ebola was … it is the “swine flu”
all over again with better press coverage …
Many people think George
W Bush used 9/11 to take away the civil liberties of American citizens, via the
“Patriot Act “… I agree he did… hence
the secret FISA Court was given such destructive powers … The NSA and other intelligence
agencies monitor us all the time now … there is no privacy … due to the Patriot Act and now due to the “coronavirus”
freedom of movement is being restricted, with many globally … camps are being set up and
used to isolate people … borders are being
closed, travel is being restricted … such things the Democrats railed against
in the past (and in Europe with their open border policies) … yet now they make no comment on it with the “coronavirus” …
The coronavirus started
in the food the Chinese ate in China (they think in snakes to be exact) … go to Chinatown and they are eating the
same stuff here … they are importing it and eating it … millions of items are still
manufactured in China and being sent here … yet they tell us the coronavirus can remain
alive on any surface for up to 2 weeks … so even just touching these items can
in theory cause the virus to occur in any person, anywhere these items from
China are sent into the USA … dock workers, disturbers of the items ….
In theory if the coronavirus is so deadly ... all products and trade with China should have been stopped ... no imports from China into the country at all or have it stay off shore for two weeks prior to it entering the country ... there is something "not right" with this outbreak and how it is being handled ...
In China literally millions of Chinese nationals and foreign nationals if they are still there are under "house arrest", by the Communist leaders... they are even using "drones" to monitor their own people in CHina to keep them inside or wearing masking ... only one member of each family is allowed to leave their homes to get food ... all the other members must stay indoors ... if that level of control on people is not frightening you ... you are not paying attention to the back story here and the implications it has on the entire globe ... Such massive control of people will make the Patriot Act seem like small potatoes attack on civil liberties ...
